Geoff Plummer

Along with his wife, Geoff is a founder director of Avenues Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic. He qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1981, a product of Leeds School of Physiotherapy.

Following completion of his training, Geoff began his career at the Physiotherapy Department at Hull Royal Infirmary. During this time he also had the chance to work with Hull Kingston Rovers RLFC in providing a comprehensive physiotherapy service to their players.

Geoff spent a total of 10 years with the club from 1981 to 1991, during which time he also provided physiotherapy for the Yorkshire Rugby League squad as well as the Great Britain Rugby League U21 and main team squad from 1987 to 2001. This culminated in a tour to Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea with the British Lions in 1988.

His role at Hull Royal Infirmary was mainly based in the orthopaedic gymnasium, where he established himself as the senior specialist physiotherapist in this field for a number of years, working closely alongside the orthopaedic surgeons.

In 2001, Geoff completed the transition into Private Practice, having worked for 20 years within the National Health Service.

His clinical expertise remains in the musculoskeletal and sports injury areas, where he continues to treat patients, passing on his wealth of knowledge and experience in these fields. He has a strong empathy towards athletes who are injured and can appreciate the frustrations that being unable to play or train can cause.

Jayne Plummer

Jayne qualified from Leeds School of Physiotherapy in 1981 and initially began her career working in the National Health Service at Doncaster Royal Infirmary for one year.

In 1982 Jayne moved back to Hull and began work at Hull Royal Infirmary and soon developed an interest for musculoskeletal injuries, working alongside Geoff in the quickly expanding Avenues Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic, which they founded in 1984.

Since then she has continued to develop her musculoskeletal skills and knowledge, playing an important role in introducing the Occupational Physiotherapy Services that now form an integral part of first4physio's business.

She is also heavily involved in promoting links with local companies to expand this work even further, not only by establishing on-site physiotherapy clinics for the industries involved, but also by setting up a fast track referral system which allows employees to be referred directly to first4physio for their treatment via their Occupational Health Departments. This aspect of the Clinic's business continues to grow, moving from strength to strength.

Jayne has a wealth of musculoskeletal experience and in addition to being a well respected, skilful clinician, is invaluable to the business in the work that she does behind the scenes in the day to day management of the practice.

Special Interest Areas include:

  • Occupational Physiotherapy and Workplace Assessments

  • Whiplash Injuries

  • Orthopaedic Medicine

  • Back pain in Pregnancy

  • The Sacroiliac Joint and its Problems

Lisa Jenkins

Lisa Jenkins

Lisa trained at the Victoria University of Manchester and achieved a First Class BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy in 1993, culminating in a distinction in her practical exam.

Since qualifying, Lisa moved back to the Hull area where she took up the position of a rotational physiotherapist at Hull Royal Infirmary.

She quickly discovered, however, that her main interest formed around orthopaedics and musculoskeletal problems and she soon progressed to take up a senior position in this field.

Lisa went on to do some additional work for Northern Foods Rugby League Club, providing physiotherapy treatment for their 1st and 2nd team squads.

Her continued experience incorporated working for the GP's at Hedon Group Practice and doing some locum work at the local Bupa Private Hospital, as well as providing Orthopaedic Outpatient work at Kingston General Hospital and Hull Royal Infirmary.

Initially, Lisa started to do some evening work at first4physio on a part time basis in addition to continuing with her senior role at HRI. However, since the birth of her twin girls in 2001, and due to the rapid expansion of the business, Lisa has committed herself fully to first4physio, taking up a more substantial role to become a highly valued member of the clinical team.

Lisa is an experienced, conscientious, hard worker, with a friendly, reassuring approach.

Special Interest Areas include:

  • Sports Injuries

  • Occupational Health Physiotherapy

They all have the exceptional ability to remain calm and cheerful, no matter what the circumstances and make patients feel relaxed and at ease when attending for treatment.

Whether you are a patient attending for treatment or you are acting on behalf of one of our referral partners, please feel free to discuss any concerns that you may have with our admin staff and they will do their utmost to help you.
